Preparation for sport at SCHOOL’s FITNESS STUDIO

More and more children participate in sports competitions. Very often, children and youth from an early age undergo very intensive and specialized trainings in the chosen sports disciplines. An increased number of injuries can be observed, which are associated with young organisms that are unprepared for intensive physical effort. The injuries that occur among young people are not only caused by the intensive trainings but may also happen during normal plays, sports games or during normal activities at home or school.

In order to prevent muscle and joint injuries and prepare the cardiovascular system of a young man before taking trainings of increased physical activity, it is necessary to strengthen the muscles, ligaments, joints, bones and cardiovascular system.

One of the best and most effective ways to develop maximum durability and strength of muscles, ligaments and joints in children’s body is to do regular exercises with weights, provided that they are performed under the supervision of a PE teacher, an instructor or a parent.


The benefits from doing regular exercises with weight are invaluable in terms of our health.

Varied strength training provides the following benefits:

•increased heart competence – regular physical exercise strengthen the heart and its endurance, because it increases the heartbeat to provide muscles with bigger amount of blood. As a result, when we are not training, our heart is still able to pump more blood within a single heartbeat. In general it can be concluded that physical exercises decrease the risk of heart attack and death caused by the heart attack;

•Increased breathing efficiency – During training our bodies need bigger amounts of oxygen. The lungs work much harder to manage the additional demand for oxygen. It results in easier breathing during exercise as well as while resting;

•Enhanced vascular system – oxygen and blood are distributed around the body through a vascular system. During exercise, the oxygenated blood keeps the blood vessels clean from deposits of fat. Physical activities cause our body to increase the number and the size of blood vessels in vascular system. This enables blood to circulate easier and faster and improves its pressure;

•Increased muscle strength and durability – muscles are organs of our body, which we use in daily work. Their strength is necessary to perform certain actions and their durability allows us to do the particular action for a longer time. Physical exercises keep muscles in good shape.

•Increased bone density – muscles are attached to bones. While performing exercise we move the muscles which massage the bones. As a result, the bony frame strengthens, bones become more dense, unbreakable and healthy;

•Increased joints flexibility – physical exercises have beneficial effects on joints because they increase their mobility and motion range;

• Reduces the risk of long-term illness;

• Extends the life span and improves the quality of life in mature years;

• Improved appearance – physical exercises improve body posture, shape and condition of the muscles;

• fat content is reduced and the skin appearance is improved because more oxygen is transferred to the tissues;

• Decreased amount of fat improves the appearance of the skin, because more oxygen is transported to the tissues.


The strength training is a concentrated form of physical exercises

Currently, there are no scientific evidence to support the false thesis that strength exercises of intensity adjusted to the possibilities of a young organism could hinder the child’s growth processes. If we provide our children and youth with varied strength trainings that engages many muscle groups and joints, it will become an effective way to prepare the young person for other sports disciplines cultivated either in the form of fun or as a sports specialization. The strength training is a concentrated form of physical exercises that are necessary in the physical development of a young person. Such a training combined with child’s favorite sports discipline like swimming, tennis or football can reduce the possibility of long-term illnesses in later life.
